The Skills Center Elite Announce the May Day Hoopfest Youth Basketball Tournament

TAMPA, FL The Skills Center Elite has unveiled its May Day Hoopfest Basketball Tournament which is expected to draw approximately 75 elite youth basketball teams from around Florida to Tampa on May 2-4. 

"As an organization we believe in youth development through sports. Together with our tournament sponsors and partners our guests will experience a first class event. Our focus is to give the youth coming to this event an opportunity to be successful through healthy competition. It truly will be a special experience with different organizations showcasing their talented youth,” said John Arroyo, Director of The Skills Center Basketball Operations.

Positive Impact to the City of Tampa

Businesses near the Hoopfest are expected to benefit from the families and staff attending the tournament. Venues include the University of Tampa, Tampa Preparatory School, St. John’s Episcopal Middle School and Hillsborough Community College Dale Mabry, as well as the tournament hotels in the Westshore and downtown areas.  “We’re expecting a great audience for the event, with families, fans and participants being able to enjoy the many of the wonderful experiences available in Tampa, along with some highly competitive youth basketball.”


Registration remains open but there will be a limit on the teams registered. Teams are encouraged to sign up quickly. Groups can register at the USSSA website, or follow the links on The Skills Center website
