Tampa, FL – On Saturday, March 5, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission hosted its annual Hillsborough County Game Day of Champions for twelve area youth soccer teams at Raymond James Stadium. The day’s beautiful weather was finely complimented by the smooth play and glowing gamesmanship displayed by each and every team. The games featured boys and girls players ranging in age from 10 to 16.
“This is a great day for the players,” said Don Hellman Sr. head coach of the BAYSL U-14 Girls team, “They play on a field that most would never get the chance to play on otherwise. This is a very exciting day for them.” Aside from the treat of playing on a professional caliber field, the players also were invited to tour the locker rooms, and were announced over the stadium’s public address system.
The Tampa Bay Sports Commission would like to thank all the players, coaches, and fans for coming out to participate in this event. The Game Day of Champions is sure to continue to be a success, and will remain a part of youth sports in the Tampa area for years to come.
