PITTSBURGH, PA - The National Club Softball Association is excited to announce that Tampa, Florida will again serve as the major market host area for the 2009 NCSA Spring Training Showcase. The decision comes after successful NCBA events in 2006, 2007, and 2008 that produced an increase from 10 to 26 participating teams in 2006, from 26 to 39 in 2007, and 39 to 45 in 2008. During the month long event in 2008, more than 1,000 participants and fans made their way to the Tampa area to enjoy the warm weather and great baseball/softball. The result was an economic impact of well over well over one million dollars for the area. This year, the NCBA is anticipating that 60 club baseball and softball teams will be making the trip to the Tampa area during their spring break to play at Mike Sansone Park in Plant City, Florida.
NCBA President, Sandy Sanderson, had this to say about the decision: “The amount of planning that it takes to host an event of this size is greatly reduced when you can return to a quality location year after year. The Tampa Sports Commission has been extremely helpful in making this tournament a success each year with their dedication to a quality experience for the players and fans of this event. Working with the local sponsors, hotels, field crews and umpires has been such a positive experience that I look forward to the future of this event in the Tampa area.”
Tampa Bay Sports Commission’s Sales and Events Manager, Jason Aughey, commented on the decision by saying, “On behalf of the Tampa Bay Sports Commission, I cannot tell you how excited we are that an agreement was reached and that the 2009 Spring Training Showcase will be held in Plant City. Thank you for all your hard work.”
In addition to returning to the Mike Sansone Park complex in Plant City, the NCSA is excited to announce the continued relationship with the Red Rose Inn and Suites as the “Official Host Hotel and Sponsor” of the 2009 NCSA Spring Training Showcase. The Red Rose offers clean spacious rooms, a large swimming pool, exercise room, complimentary deluxe hot breakfast, nightly live entertainment, and an award winning restaurant on site.
