TAMPA, Fla. - Soon, Hillsborough County will be the home of a multi-faceted development featuring a Sportsplex, Medical Center, Assisted/Independent Living Facility, a Townhome Community, and a Resort Community. Easily accessible and clearly visible from I-75 the 123 acre site, complete with a 70 acre lake is located on Bullfrog Creek Road (via Big Bend Road, mm246) in Riverview, and will become the Gateway to Southern Hillsborough County.

The most coveted portion of this complex will be the Freedom Harbor Sportsplex, featuring a mix of sporting amenities as never seen before. The Sportsplex will be approximately 371,000 s.f., of beautiful glass and steel, divided into three sections, the north wing, south wing and center core. The south wing will include two restaurants overlooking either the lake or the indoor arena and ice rink providing unique dining experiences; an arena for concerts, ice shows, indoor football, indoor soccer, indoor tennis tournaments, and more. Also featured will be two ice rinks for professional and recreational use, provided by Freedom Harbor Ice, owned in part by former Austrian Olympic Pair Skater Michael Nemec. Mr. Nemec also performed for many years with Disney On Ice while touring internationally. For those wanting to take a chill on a hot summer day, there will also be a snow village featuring sledding, snowball fights, and snowman building fun in an Alpine Village atmosphere.
The center core of the Sportsplex will include ninety hotel rooms, Performing Arts studios for dance, music, art and more; a Spa and Wellness Center and the top floor will be dedicated to a fine dining restaurant and a private club, both with rooftop dining, perfect for weddings and special events.
The north wing of the Sportsplex will include a full health club, racquetball and squash courts, Olympic size pool, and indoor tennis/basketball courts. Outside there will be beach volleyball, additional tennis courts, and an additional fifty hotel bungalows dotting the lake. All throughout the complex will be retail shopping and pro shops.
Cable tow water sports will be provided on the 70 acre lake by Voda Sport, operated by Jakub Pilecky of the Czech Republic, who has worked in the cable tow industry for the past 7 years at Orlando Water Sports, and will feature two cable tow systems for water skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, trick skiing, and slalom skiing, all of which can also be performed behind a boat, also provided by Voda Sport. One cable will be for beginners and intermediate use and one cable dedicated for advanced skiers. A third cable is already being considered. Private lessons will also be available.
Also on the lake will be a 400 meter track and field built over water, the first in the world to hold this distinction. The inside of the track will be used for additional sporting activities. The track will be used for local events as well as Olympic training. Additionally, there will be a nature trail surrounding the property, complete with comfort stations. A bridge connecting the west side of the lake to the Sportsplex offers additional trails for power walking and jogging. This wonderful complex will soon become The Place to Play in Tampa Bay!
In addition to the exciting sports venues, Freedom Harbor will have a state-of-the-art Medical Center. Built facing Hwy 75 to provide optimal visibility, it will be within walking distance to the ACLF/ILF. The Medical Center offers convenience to patients by offering, under one roof, an emergency care walk-in center, doctors and dentists offices, and a possible surgical center on the third floor. Other services may include x-ray, MRI, pharmacy, labs, physical therapy, and many more specialties relating to the medical profession, in one convenient location. The first floor will accommodate up to fifty (50%) percent retail, which may include specialty tenants such as hearing aid stores, oxygen and medical suppliers, etc. to further meet the needs of the patients and physicians. Parking will be located on the ground floor.
The Assisted Care Living Facility (ACLF) will be located behind the medical facility, with beautiful views of Bullfrog Creek, and will offer a resort lifestyle to three hundred fifty (350) assisted needs and independent living residents. It is designed for the senior who wants to enjoy the final years of their life in a resort style facility where they can stay active. Many seniors today are living life to the fullest, and just because they may need a more secure living environment, no longer mean they have to give up having fun in their retirement years.
