SWFBUD Moves 2012 Bicycle Bash Festival Into Downtown Tampa November 4th

TAMPA, FLa. — SWFBUD (South West Florida Bicycle United Dealers), the award-winning and nationally-recognized alliance of retail bicycle stores in Tampa Bay, is proud to announce that it is moving its annual popular bicycle festival called the Bicycle Bash into downtown Tampa this year.

The 2012 SWFBUD Bicycle Bash Festival, presented by ISM bike saddles and co-sponsored by the city of Tampa, is scheduled for 10 am to 4 pm on Nov. 4 at beautiful Contanchobee Park on the Channel next to Marriott Waterside, the Tampa Bay History Center and the Tampa Bay Times Forum in downtown Tampa.

The sixth annual Bicycle Bash is all about celebrating bicycling in Tampa Bay and is put on by SWFBUD’s 10 bike shops — ABC Bicycles, Bicycle Outfitters, Carrollwood Bicycle Emporium, Chainwheel Drive, Oliver’s Cycle Sports, Trek Store of Tampa and Clearwater, University Bicycle Center, Street Fit 360, Velo Champ and Trek Store of St. Petersburg. SWFBUD also includes three lawyer members — Tom Singletary, J. Steele Olmstead and the Mark Roman Law Group.

SWFBUD puts on the Bicycle Bash event every year to show the many healthy lifestyle, wellness and transportation benefits of bicycling to the Tampa Bay market. SWFBUD’s national bicycle participants at the Bicycle Bash include the League of American Bicyclists and the Pedal America TV show.

The League of American Bicyclists is teaming up with SWFBUD to holda mini bike summit in Tampa the day after the Bicycle Bash on Nov. 5 from 1-4PM.

SWFBUD has held its Bicycle Bash in St. Petersburg and Hillsborough County in previous years and now will stage the event in downtown Tampa to showcase the bicycle improvements in the city of Tampa while also providing a central venue for the Tampa Bay market.

SWFBUD’s 10 bike shops will be on hand to show you the latest and greatest in the bicycle world. In addition, SWFBUD’s three lawyer members will be there to answer any bicycle legal questions. Other activities include a children’s bicycle parade on Riverwalk in Contanchobee Park, free bike gear and great food courtesy of the world-famous Columbia Restaurant.

The Columbia Restaurant is a Bicycle Bash new sponsor, joining presenting sponsor ISM saddles and the event co-sponsor, the city of Tampa. City employees will be on hand to discuss new developments in bicycle infrastructure in Tampa. Other Bicycle Bash sponsors are Polar Bottle, Pedal America, and American Traffic Solutions. SWFBUD thanks its Bicycle Bash sponsors for supporting bicycling in Tampa Bay.

The Bicycle Bash has been awarded Florida’s Bicycle Event of the Year by the Florida Bicycle Association, while SWFBUD was awarded the prestigious national retail bicycle advocate of the year by the Bicycle Retailer and Industry News magazine.
