Skatepark of Tampa Celebrates 20 Years

TAMPA, Fla. – Local Tampa business with global recognition, Skatepark of Tampa, celebrates 20 years with an annual event-filled weekend, December 6 – 9, 2012.

Every December, skateboarders from around the world visit Skatepark of Tampa, casually known as SPoT, for the legendary Tampa Am Contest. This event is widely known as the world’s most respected amateur skateboarding gathering and is presented by Nike and sponsored by Red Bull and Gatorade.

The weekend consists of non-stop excitement:

Thursday night: The festivities begin with the Welcome to Town Party featuring three bands
Friday: Qualifiers for the 19th Annual Tampa Am
Friday night: Art Show at The Bricks in Ybor City
Saturday: Qualifiers for the 19th Annual Tampa Am continue
Saturday night: 20 Year Anniversary Party at Czar Ybor featuring hip-hop artists Souls of Mischief and Killer Mike
Sunday: 19th Annual Tampa Am Semi-Finals, Finals, and Best Trick Contest
Sunday night: After Party at The Bricks in Ybor City

If you can’t make it to SPoT to witness the skating firsthand, there is a live broadcast at on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
