Silver Dollar Shooters Club to Host Fourth Annual “SHOOT FOR THE CURE”

ODESSA, FL – The Silver Dollar Shooters Club, 17202 Target Way, has announced that its annual cancer “Shoot for the Cure” will be held Saturday,Oct. 26, beginning at 10 a.m. The shoot, the club’s fourth, will raise funds to donate to organizations that benefit both men and women with breast and other cancers and to support cancer education and research.

Bill Miller, club manager, said that as many as 230,000 cases of breast cancer in women have been predicted for 2013 with some 40,000 deaths expected from the disease.  An additional 64,000 cases of localized, non-invasive (in situ) women’s breast cancer also have been predicted, and more than 2,200 new cases of men’s breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed, resulting in some 400 deaths. The causes can be genetic as well as environmental, he said, but some 85% of women who get breast cancer have no known history of the disease in their family.

The shoot, which is open to the general public, is a Trap format consisting of 50 targets for men shooters from the 24-yard line and 50 targets for women shooters from the 16-yard line.  Miller said that two teams from the club’s parent company, Chicago-based Equity Life Styles (NYSE:ELS), will be participating in the shoot.  Also shooting in the women’s event will be 18-year-old Dania Vizzi, the current Women’s Junior Olympic Skeet Champion, who also recently captured the silver medal in the Junior Women’s World Cup Skeet Event in Lima, Peru.

Pink clay targets for the shoot are being provided by White Flyer Targets, and pink shotgun shells are being provided by Federal Premium Ammunition.  The $50 fee to enter the “Shoot for the Cure” includes 50 of the pink targets and  shotgun shells for each shooter.  Other sponsors for the event include Browns Trophies, Karl Flammer Ford, ABC Action News, Mercedes Benz of Tampa Bay, Silver Dollar Firearms, the Silver Dollar Shooters Club and Beretta USA.

Following the shoot, gift baskets and other donated items, including a shotgun from Beretta USA and his-and-her shotguns from Karl Flammer Ford, will be auctioned to raise additional funds for this year’s charitable contribution.
