BLAZESPORTS

The Tampa Bay Sports Commission is proud to partner with BlazeSports Club of Tampa Bay on programming throughout the year. BlazeSports Americasm has established a national network of local clubs in communities throughout the country, providing sports programs that promote physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and competitive sports opportunities for children and adults who have a physical disability. Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation, and Conservation Department is one of sixty-three programs in the country that host a BlazeSports® Program. Over 200 athletes participate in at least one BlazeSports Tampa Bay program each year, with participation at all levels from recreational to competitive elite in multiple sports such as wheelchair basketball, track and field, adaptive tennis, swimming, and indoor wheelchair soccer. BlazeSports Tampa Bay offers periodic clinics in additional sports such as archery, adaptive golf, adaptive water skiing, and more. In 2008, nine athletes represented BlazeSports Tampa Bay at the National Junior Disability Championships and four more athletes represented Team USA at the 2008 International Wheelchair and Amputee Sport Games.
