ST. PETERSBURG, FL — The Pirates had their chance: now it’s the Dancers’ turn to take the bay. Ballroom dancers from around the world arrive in Tampa to compete at the Superstars Dancesport Championships, February 15-17, at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel.
Dancesport is not your usual sports event: with beautiful bodies and dazzling costumes waltzing and jiving to the music, it’s an exciting and glamorous way to spend a day or evening.
Superstars Dancesport is unlike the usual competition. It’s fun with a lot of eye candy and a very social event,” says organizer, Michael Chapman. “A great place to take your Valentine’s date on the weekend. These dancers train for years and are in top physical condition. But with the sparkling makeup, gorgeous gowns and points scored for individuality and style, this is definitely the most entertaining sport there is.”
Mixed in with the competitive events, expect some sensational shows in the evenings and the Saturday night finale where the winners of the Professional categories compete against each other for the grand prize. The best competitors in America are coming.
From morning to night, dancers of all ages will compete in Latin and Ballroom styles, such as Quickstep, Mambo, Tango and Rumba, in professional, amateur and pro/am categories, where professionals compete with their students, as they do on Dancing with the Stars.
The Superstars Dancesport Championships runs Thursday, February 15th through Saturday, February 17th in the Grand Ballroom at the Tampa Marriott Waterside.
