Turner Tabbed Associate Head Coach of Stewards Foundation

TAMPA, FL - The Stewards Foundation is pleased to announce that Duwyane Turner, former Community Programs and Development Head Rowing Coach at The Thompson Boat Center, Washington, DC will serve as Associate Head Coach for The Stewards Foundation. 

Duwyane will begin his new responsibilities January 27, 2015 according to Steve White, Director of Rowing. White added that “Coach Turner brings together a wealth of experience and a history of coaching excellence”. He awards and accomplishments include a letter of accommodation from the Governor of Virginia and the former runner up for Coach of the year for the state of Virginia.

Coach Turner began Rowing at TC Williams in Alexandra Virginia and subsequently lettered during his entire college career at George Mason University. According to Tom Feaster, Stewards Foundation’s President and a Director of The United States Rowing Association “Coach Turner joins a group of highly skilled and talented coaches including Steve White, Director of Rowing, Michael Smith, Head Coach, and assistant coaches Danielle Wiemkem and Chad Hardy. 

Coach Turner’s goal this spring is to prepare his athletes for a highly competitive spring racing season and to recruit and develop new middle school and high school students to get involved in the Stewards multi-school and recreational Rowing programs. He will also assist Stewards Regatta Director, John Stimus in coordinating The Tampa Water Sports Festival to be held March 21 and 22, 2015.
